Dance with me...

Image
Dean Martin's, "Sway" When marimba rhythms start to play Dance with me, make me sway Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore Hold me close, sway me more Like a flower bending in the breeze Bend with me, sway with ease When we dance you have a way with me Stay with me, sway with me Other da ncers may be on the floor Dear, but my eyes will see only you Only you have the magic technique When we sway I go weak I can hear the sounds of violins Long be fore it begins... Make me thrill as only you know how Sway me smooth, sway me now ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When I was about 4 or 5 years old I remember my mother dancing around the living room in our tiny San Francisco house, vacuuming, humming and swaying her hips to the sweet mambo rhythms on the hi-fi stereo turntable, with her imaginary partner, Mr. Hoover.  As she dusted with one hand, she grabbed my small hand with the other and we twirled and cha-cha'd to the smooth melodies until we were dizzy a...

Six Pieces Of Trivia

Image
A fellow blogger, Jo on the go , whom I met on the Airstream Trailer Forums website, "tagged" me for this fun little game called, Six Pieces of Trivia . As I tried to come up with a list, it occurred to me that my whole life is a patchwork of trivia! How to pare it down to only six? This is what I came up with. Some mundane and some inane. You should see the one's I cut. If you add a comment I will send you the really juicy one's! The rules: 1.) Link to the person who tagged you. 2.) Post the rules. 3.) Share six non-important things / habits / quirks about yourself. 4.) Tag at least three people. 5.) Make sure the people you tagged know you tagged them by commenting what you did. So ... here goes! 1. Eggs and Tof...

The Darwin Awards....I hope I'll never win one!

Image
Chimp as Thinker Sculpted by Francisco Ramo in the 20th century Once again, it's that magical time of the year when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us. Here then, are the glorious winners: 1. When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California , would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked..... And now, the honorable mentions: 2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat-cuttin machine and, after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company expecting negligence sent out one of it's men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and he also lost a finger. The chef's claim was approved. 3. A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woma...

Camping is for Sissies!

Image
So, we went camping last August to McCarthur-Burney Falls State Park .  Imagine seven people, several dogs, three meals-a-day and endless snacks.  Stress and dirt out of every orifice!  Packing and unpacking, shopping and cooking. Decisions of what to do and when to do it.  My husband and I had our once-a year-blow-out argument...all in the name of camping!  I can't even remember what it was about. "Special" Camp memories:  Camping is the middle-class's idea of roughing it.  Now, granted, I'm guilty as well.  We used to tent-it,when the kids were wee, but now that we require more comfortable accommodations, we go all the way in our 1978 Airstream ™ luxury travel trailer (not really, 'cuz when we're 'boon-docking', we can't use the shower or flush), which includes; an indoor toilet /a tiny shower, sink, stove, 'fridge and two twin beds [please no comment].  But, in the past few y ears I've observed that camping is the furthest thing tha...
